Terms of Service

Last updated June 13, 2026

Acceptance

By creating a Shortlist account you agree to these terms. If you’re signing up on behalf of a company, you represent that you have authority to bind that company. If you don’t agree, don’t sign up.

Description of service

Shortlist crawls business-for-sale listings from public broker websites, scores them against the buy-box criteria you configure, and delivers a short list of matching deals to your inbox and Slack — along with drafted broker outreach messages. We do not represent buyers or sellers. We are not a broker, an agent, or an investment adviser.

Subscriptions

Shortlist costs $99 per month. Every new account starts with a free trial — 30 days, or 60 with a partner code. After the trial your card is charged monthly on your billing date. You can cancel anytime from the customer portal — your access continues through the end of the period you already paid for.

If your trial ends without a valid payment method on file, your account pauses. You can re-add a card through the customer portal to resume where you left off.

Acceptable use

You may not:

  • Scrape, resell, or redistribute any listings or data you receive through Shortlist.
  • Use automated tools or bots to access Shortlist at a rate that abuses the service.
  • Share your account. One account per person — we don’t offer team seats in v1.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer or copy the scoring model, scraper infrastructure, or memo generation.

Disclaimers

Listings come from third-party broker websites. We do our best to surface accurate data, but we can’t guarantee that any listing is accurate, available, correctly priced, or that the underlying business is as described. Broker sites change or pull listings without notice.

Nothing Shortlist sends you is investment advice, legal advice, or financial advice. The scored memos are a starting point for your own research. Always do your own diligence and work with licensed professionals before making any acquisition decision.

Shortlist is provided “as is.” We make no warranty, express or implied, about fitness for a particular purpose or uninterrupted service.

Limitation of liability

If something goes wrong, our total liability to you is capped at the subscription fees you paid Shortlist in the three months before the event that gave rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, incidental, or punitive damages — including lost profits or missed deals — even if we knew such damages were possible.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we’ll email you at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Continuing to use Shortlist after the effective date means you accept the updated terms. If you don’t accept them, you can cancel before the date and owe nothing further.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute goes to state or federal courts in Delaware, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.
